National Health IT Week
The American Society of Anesthesiologists is excited to kick off and celebrate the 9th annual National Health IT Week. Founded by the Healthcare Information and Management Systems (HIMSS) and the Institute for e-Health Policy, National Health IT week is a nationwide event that focuses on promoting the value of healthcare IT and the strides that have been made in this arena. ASA is proud to be a
2017 Partner in National Health IT Week and to highlight the benefits of health information technology.
There are many events this week, both on the local level and broadcasted nationwide, highlighting Health IT and how health care stakeholders use electronic health records. The list of events can be found on the
National Health IT Week events page . Some highlights include panels by the Office of the National Coordinator for Health IT (ONC) on interoperability and usability, a HIMSS discussion on Infrastructure needs from the Health IT perspective and a webinar on how Health IT can help extinguish physician burnout.
ASA prioritizes health IT efforts throughout the year by providing the physician anesthesiologist perspective in national Health IT initiatives. This includes providing comments on relevant Certified EHR Technology regulations and encouraging modifications of standards and guidelines so that they accurately reflect how physician anesthesiologists best use health IT.
