The Centers for Medicare & Medicaid Services (CMS) is hosting an office hours session on August 14 to discuss the MIPS 2017 performance feedback reports, the process for a targeted review and frequently asked questions. Participants must register in advance.
Earlier this year, CMS released individual and group scores to Eligible Clinicians (ECs) for the 2017 Merit-based Incentive Payment System (MIPS). The scores that ECs and their practices receive will impact their Medicare Part B payments on allowed charges in 2019. ECs and practices may access their 2017 performance feedback and final score by logging onto their Enterprise Identify Management (EIDM) account via the Quality Payment Program (QP) webpage.
This week, CMS also updated their system to separately display payment adjustments based on MIPS performance and, if applicable, exception performance (they were previously combined). The system will continue to display the total MIPS payment adjustment, which is a sum of these scores.
MIPS ECs and groups who believe an error has been made in their score may request a targeted review. The deadline to submit for a targeted review is now October 1. If you request a targeted review, CMS may request practices submit additional documentation to support their appeal.
