Elizabeth Rebello, Rph, M.D., FASA, was recently appointed to serve on the Pharmacy Compounding Advisory Committee of the Food and Drug Administration (FDA). ASA is pleased to have nominated Dr. Rebello for this vital appointment. The purpose of the committee is to advise on scientific, technical, and medical issues concerning drug compounding and make appropriate recommendations to the FDA Commissioner. This work will complement her roles as ASA Liaison to the United States Pharmacopeia (USP) and Expert Consultant to the USP Expert Compounding Committee.
Dr. Rebello is an Associate Professor in the Department of Anesthesiology and Perioperative Medicine at the MD Anderson Cancer Center of the University of Texas. Previously, she earned her medical degree from the University of Texas- San Antonio and shortly after began a career within the Division of Anesthesiology and Critical Care at the MD Anderson Cancer Center in Houston. Dr. Rebello is heavily involved with ASA, serving on several committees including: Ambulatory Surgical Care, Annual Meeting Oversight, and Quality Management & Departmental Administration. Dr. Rebello is also Chair of both the ASA Committee on Professional Diversity and the Education Track Sub-committee on Professional Issues. While ASA nominated Dr. Rebello to the Pharmacy Compounding Advisory Committee, she will serve on the committee in an individual capacity.
