2019 Elections and ASA Members

Several ASA members were on the ballot for 2019 with mixed results from yesterday’s election.
 
In Indiana, ASA member Alex Choi, M.D., M.P.H., FASA, won the election for an At-Large position on the Zionsville Town Council.  Dr. Choi currently serves as Chair of the ASA Committee on Practice Management, on the ASA Committee on Economics, on the Committee on Quality Management and Departmental Administration, and the Committee on Governmental Affairs. He is also a member of the ASA House of Delegates and an alternate director for the Board of Directors.
 
In Texas, ASA member Anna Allred, M.D., ran a strong, well-executed. yet unsuccessful, campaign for Texas State House Representative in District 28 in a special election to replace ASA member John Zerwas, M.D., who stepped down from the position in September.  ASAPAC supported Dr. Allred in her election.  Dr. Allred serves on the ASA Committee on Women in Anesthesia.  
 
ASA congratulates Dr. Choi on the win and applauds Dr. Allred for her campaign.  ASA will continue to encourage ASA members to consider running for public office.
