Chiquita BrooksLaSure Confirmed as Administrator of CMS

On Tuesday, May 25, the Senate voted to confirm Chiquita Brooks-LaSure as the Administrator of the Centers for Medicare and Medicaid Services (CMS).  Brooks-LaSure was approved by a vote of 55-44.

At CMS, Brooks-LaSure will oversee the Medicare and Medicaid insurance programs and the exchanges set up by the Affordable Care Act.

Chiquita Brooks-LaSure was previously a managing director of a consulting firm Manatt Health. Under President Obama, she served as the deputy director of policy and regulation at the CMS Center for Consumer Information and Insurance Oversight and served as director of coverage policy within the Department of Health and Human Services (HHS) Office of Health Reform.
