This week, the Department of Health and Human Services (HHS) released guidance recommending federal government facilities have naloxone, the lifesaving overdose reversal medication, onsite. The guidance recommends the reversal drug be incorporated into AED stations, which would be converted into “safety stations.”
ASA applauds the Administration for this decision as it aligns with the Society’s longstanding recommendations. The Society recently endorsed legislation, the Workplace Overdose Reversal Kits (WORK) to Save Lives Act, which would require federal buildings to have naloxone readily available.
ASA thanks the Administration for this important recommendation.Date of last update: December 22, 2023
