Earlier today, leaders within the U.S. Department of Health and Human Services (HHS) issued a communication to providers regarding Change Healthcare’s cybersecurity attack and its impact on physicians’ cash flow and overall operations.
ASA and other stakeholders have conveyed to HHS the many significant financial problems caused by Change. Physicians continue to have difficulty getting answers to questions from health plans about the availability of prospective payments or the flexibilities they may need while the Change Healthcare platform is unavailable. In response, HHS has asked health plans to provide specific contact information that physicians can use when seeking guidance.
HHS has compiled information, resources, and tools from health plans for providers in need of assistance. In the attached appendix, providers can find information to help them connect with payers regarding impacts of the cyberattack, links to resources payers have set up (including guides to connect to alternate data clearinghouse services), information on advanced payments, and more. HHS includes resources from the following major payers:
