Applications and personal/platform statements of eligible candidates should be received by the ASA Office at least 60 days prior to the annual meeting of the Resident Component House of Delegates. The personal/platform statement will be included in the House of Delegates onsite Handbook. The other materials will be posted online. Current ASA Resident Component bylaws do not allow for floor nominations of candidates if at least one person is running for that office. Please contact one of the RC Governing Council members with questions about running for office.
The order of elections will be President-Elect, Secretary, Alternate Delegate to the AMA Resident and Fellow Section and Co-Editor. For each election, we will hear a speech (three minutes or less) as set by the President from each candidate for that position, then vote.
Voting will take place according to the Approval Voting method as per our bylaws. This process allows delegates to vote for more than one candidate in any given election. The candidate receiving the most votes shall be elected.
The newly inducted President of the ASA Resident Component will meet with elected officers after the adjournment of the HOD.
