If you are reporting as an individual, you can report via attestation, a QCDR, a Qualified Registry or via your EHR. If you are engaging in group reporting, you may report under each of the previously listed options in addition to the CMS Web Interface for groups of 25 or more. ECs and groups may use a combination of reporting mechanisms to meet MIPS component requirements. For example, a practice may use the CMS web portal to attest for MIPS Improvement Activities and a Qualified Registry for the MIPS Quality component.

CMS will automatically calculate scores in the MIPS Cost component using claims data from the performance period. No reporting is required of ECs or groups. In 2019, ECs will be scored on two cost measures, Total Per Capita Cost and Medicare Spending Per Beneficiary, and up to eight additional episode-based cost measures, as applicable.
