In order to secure full credit towards the 25% weight of the MIPS Advancing Care (ACI) performance category, MIPS eligible clinicians must report on five different objectives to earn 50% (the base score) and then choose additional measures to report on to reach 100%.
The five required base score measures:
- Security Risk Analysis (formerly Protect Patient Health Information)
- Provide Patient Access
- Send a Summary of Care
- Request/Accept a Summary of Care
MIPS eligible clinicians who, in addition to reporting the base score measures, report the performance score measures will earn a higher score. Participation in these performance score measures can result in a performance score up to 90%. The performance score measures are as follows:
- Patient-Specific Education
- View, Download, or Transmit (VDT)
- Secure Messaging
- Patient-Generated Health Data
- Clinical Information Reconciliation
- Immunization Registry Reporting
MIPS eligible clinicians who report to one or more additional public health and clinical data registries beyond the Immunization Registry Reporting can receive a 5% bonus. Those who report certain clinical improvement activities using CEHRT can receive a 10% bonus during the 2017 transition year.
Eligible clinicians need to successfully attest to the base score to get ANY score. If you do not successfully attest to the base score, you will receive a 0 for the Advancing Care Information performance category.
