The Perioperative Surgical Home (PSH) is a patient-centric, team-based model of care that emphasizes value, patient satisfaction and reduced costs. The PSH is a comprehensive suite of services, resources and tools that support team-based care through education, consultation, engagement and economics.
The goal of the PSH is to enhance value and help achieve the Triple Aim: a better patient experience, better health care and lower costs. Metrics include improved operational efficiencies, decreased resource utilization, a reduction in length of stay and readmission, and a decrease in complications and mortality—resulting in a better patient experience of care.
The objectives of the PSH are aligned with the health care reform landscape. In an effort to help those who are undergoing PSH pilots and those who are simply interested in knowing more about the model, ASA has created a robust suite of educational and service-oriented offerings. More details can be found on the comprehensive PSH website.
