Jonathan Gal, MD, is an associate professor in the Department of Anesthesiology, Perioperative and Pain Medicine at the Icahn School of Medicine at Mount Sinai and serves as the department’s Director of Governmental and Reimbursement Affairs, as well as Director of Clinical Leadership and Management Residency Track. In addition to his academic appointment, Dr. Gal holds two Mount Sinai Health System administrative positions. The first as System Medical Director, Offsite Ambulatory Surgery Centers Anesthesia for the joint venture ASCs of the MSHS. The second is as System Medical Director, Facility Revenue Integrity and Optimization for MSHS where his focus is overlapping mid-revenue cycle analytics, business intelligence, process design, and clinical engagement and implementation to maximize revenue for inpatient and ambulatory surgery facilities within the health system. His service to the American Society of Anesthesiologists includes Vice Chair of the Committee on Economics, Chair of the Alternative Payment Model Workgroup, and member of the Committee on Governmental Affairs. Dr. Gal’s serves the New York State Society of Anesthesiologists on the NYSSA Executive Council as well as Chair of the Governmental and Legal Affairs Committee.
Dr. Gal earned his medical degree from Eastern Virginia Medical School, completed his anesthesiology training at The Mount Sinai Hospital in the Icahn School of Medicine, and received his Executive Master of Business Administration and Master of Science degrees in Healthcare Leadership from Cornell SC Johnson College of Business and Weill Cornell Medical College.
Gordon Morewood, MD, is a diplomate of the American Board of Anesthesiology, a fellow of the National Board of Echocardiography, and a Fellow of the American Society of Anesthesiologists. He currently serves as professor of clinical anesthesiology and Chair of the Department of Anesthesiology at the Lewis Katz School of Medicine at Temple University. He is an oral board examiner for the American Board of Anesthesiology, a member of the Board of Directors and president-elect for the Pennsylvania Society of Anesthesiologists, and a delegate to the American Society of Anesthesiologists House of Delegates.
Dr. Morewood is a past Chair of the Committee on Economics and Governmental Affairs for the Society of Cardiovascular Anesthesiologists, and is a member of the Committee on Economics for the American Society of Anesthesiologists. He received his MD from the School of Medicine at Queen’s University in his native country of Canada, and his MBA from Drexel University in Philadelphia, Pennsylvania. He completed an anesthesiology residency at the Beth Israel Hospital in Boston, Massachusetts, and a fellowship in cardiothoracic anesthesiology at the Hospital of the University of Pennsylvania.
Adam Striker, MD, FASA, is currently Chair of the ASA Committee on Communications, and is the series editor for ASA’s Central Line podcast series. He is an Associate Professor and serves as staff anesthesiologist in the Division of Cardiac Anesthesia at Cincinnati Children’s Hospital and in the Division of Pediatric Anesthesia at Kentucky Children’s Hospital as part of the Joint Congenital Heart Care Program. He received his undergraduate degree in engineering from Purdue University and his medical degree from Indiana University. He completed his pediatric anesthesiology fellowship at Northwestern University.
