Previous research has shown different effects of anesthetics on cancer cell growth. Here, the authors investigated the association between type of anesthetic and patient survival after elective colon cancer surgery.

  • Apply the physiologic effects of volatile anesthetics and propofol to cancer patients.
  • Explain to the patient the effect anesthetic choice may have in colon cancer recovery.
  • Apply preoperative risk analysis to the hypnotic anesthetic selection.
