This course will discuss infectious agents that pose a risk to the Anesthesiologist. Within this discussion a review of protective gear will also be covered and methods to minimize risk.

Learning Objectives: After completing this activity, the participant should be able to:

  • Describe the risks of know infectious agents to the practicing anesthesiologist;
  • Review protective gear and how its use can protect the practitioner;
  • Investigate the true risks and dangers of agents such as TB, HIV, Hepatitis, SARS and Ebola.
