This course is designed to emphasize the various options available to an anesthesiologist when managing a difficult airway. At the conclusion of this activity, participants should be able to:
  • Expand their thinking and explore options: virtual patients present with various risk factors, requiring the player to make varied, strategic choices in their use of anesthesia and paralytic agents.
  • Differentiate and evaluate options: from changing the intubation method to requesting assistance, players are able to treat their patient as they see fit and determine which choices maximize their chance of securing the airway.
