ASA is soliciting members in good standing to self-nominate for the Center for Anesthesia and Perioperative Economics (CAPE) and the Center for Anesthesia Workforce Studies (CAWS). ASA members seeking appointment must complete an application and submit required documentation.

The Center for Anesthesia and Perioperative Economics (CAPE) focuses on long-range (e.g., two to five years) ASA economic strategy as it relates to regulatory and policy, legislative initiatives, and economic dynamics with facilities, health systems, and private payers. The Center for Anesthesia Workforce Studies (CAWS) conducts and supports informed anesthesia workforce research to improve policy and planning at state and national levels. CAWS provides analyses based on multiple data sources to address critical workforce issues in anesthesia and perioperative services, including education and training, geographic distribution and access, trends in supply and demand, care delivery models, and the impact of anesthesia-related group practices and alternative organizational models. Nominations must be submitted between May 26 and July 1, 2026 (at 12 pm ET) to be considered for appointment during the 2026-2027 governance year. ASA expects to notify successful nominees of their appointment in September 2026. Inquiries should be directed to [email protected].
